GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level


GIMP just recently started this.
I make a selection then create a new layer, but the selection will not carry over to the new layer. I go back to the original layer and the selection is present.

What am I doing wrong?

After you made you selection got to Edit > paste as new layer. that way will make its own layer
