So I just made a Signature in GIMP, and it involves Transparency, So that the Gradient shows well, is there any background I could put in there so that the Gradient wouldn't look horrible? Without affecting the Gradient, I have the layers set to a bunch of different types, and when I add a background color, everything goes hay-wire and changes colors. So is there anyway I could add a background without it affecting the layers above it?
See how the white just looks weird as the background? Is there something I could put as a background that wouldn't affect the layers above it and make them change colors?

I added a screenshot of what I am hoping to get, something like that, so that it will not look so bad, or could you guys suggest a background that would match... if nothing else.

For "the layers set to a bunch of different types" you may simplify:
edit/copy visible and edit/paste as new image (so you still have the image with all the layers, but you may work on the copy)

There is another similar option Layer/new from visible

It is hard to guess the result of the combination of more then 2 layer mode, so save the visible of the best combination may help also to limit weird side effect

Thanks, I don't think I am gonna mess with it anymore, so this topic can just be left to die. I did something similair, but I saved it as a PNG and then added a Black Background.

I was going to suggest using a bg color that is set to the darkest color in your gradient.
Looks like you figured out what you need though.
