Running two versions of gimp simultaneously, is it wise ?

GIMP Version: 2.6
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

I’ve downloaded gimp 2.8 as I want to try python scripting through the Python-Fu Console and am running gimp 2.8 alongside gimp 2.6, both are installed in C:\Program Files. Is it wise, are there likely to be problems or conflicts between them, or is it a bad idea, I’ve been very happy with gimp 2.6 for a number of years and would really like to keep it.

You can have Python in 2.6, use the later installers (2.6.12...)

Otherwise, yes you can have both, but installing 2.8 removes 2.6, so you have to install 2.8 and then install 2.6 (or hide 2.6 while you install 2.8).

I have 12 Gimps installed 1 full 2.8.14 the rest are 2 port 2.6 and 2 port 2.8 painters with the rest made up of various 2.8 ports no problems
