Hi! I have no idea how to do this so I thought somebody else might know....

How do I make certain frames for an animated gif show longer than others? How I animate now I duplicate the layer a bunch of times and that's not practical so...is there a way? I'd think there has to be a way somehow.

Thanks!

All your layer names can include a duration in milliseconds and in parentheses:

Some layer (300ms)

Once you've put your animation through "Filters---->Animation---->Optimize", there will be parameters created per frame, that you can access and modify to change the timing. Right click on the desired optimized layer and select "edit layer attributes. It should read something like:

"Layer #1(100ms)(combine)"

By default, every layer is set to 100ms. Change that value to determine the timing. You'll need to do a bit of practising at first to get it right.

I only have optimize for gif or difference and I can't do anything with settings it's just a click setting. :\

Edit:
I think I figured it out....maybe. :lol

Saulgoode has an Animation Settings script. It works on all visible layers, although it's handy if you only need to change the timing on a series of frames. Just hide all layers (Shift-clicking on the eye) and toggle the series on.
