Hey Guys! I've searched all over and found the same advice and it's still not working.
I downloaded and installed gimp 2.8, then downloaded G'MIC and followed the instructions (copy files into plug-in folder, go into preferences and make sure it's listed under plug-ins), and yet GMIC still doesn't show up in the Filters List. Any help would be greatly appreciate!

In the Help menu | Plug-in Browser search for g'mic
Did you check the last entry in the Filters menu?
If neither of those work hopefully someone with a Mac will stop by with more info.

Yes, I checked the filter tab, as well as the folders section within preferences. No dice.
I did download the link you suggested (thank you both for your help, much appreciated) and when Gimp started up, this message flashed across the screen:

"Quering New plug in: GMIC"

Still no dice!

I guess hopefully one of the members that has Mac can help you.

Do you have to set permissions like we do for linux?

My best suggestion is to download McGimp as it has GMic already inside it. You can get it at Partha's Place
