Hello! I would like to know how to delete a font listed in GIMP. There are fonts which I will NEVER use and I dont see why I should keep them.

I found this on Google:
"....I added the necessary commands to the batch file, you can now download the new version as a zipped file only, called _2mf-1.0.zip . I updated the download location and instructions below:
•First, create a new folder " 2manyfonts " on the same drive/partition where your Windows folder is located. In my case, I have C:\Windows, the fonts are in C:\Windows\Fonts, and I created C:\2manyfonts
•Download the zipped batch file (named _2mf-1.0.zip) and unzip the contained batch file (named _2mf.bat) into your 2manyfonts folder (you created that folder, right?)
•Click the Start Orb (aka Start button ;-) ) and type cmd in the search box
•In the list above right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
•In the command window, type " cd \2manyfonts " without the quotes
•Type " _2mf.bat X " and replace the X by the letter of your Windows partition, in my case C, so I would type "_2mf.bat C". Type a space before the drive letter!
•Press Return/Enter
•When the batch is finished, which should just take a second, you should have 149 *.ttf files in your 2manyfiles folder. "

it seems that it is for Windows 7

pls note that my previous reply is related to standard Windows fonts, not those you have maybe added into your personal .gimp folder, from there it's easy to remove what you added...

OK, another question. Is there a way I can tell GIMP to use the fonts in a specific folder? I'm trying to have GIMP use only fonts I know I will use. It is reading Win 7 system fonts and they have Indian, Thai, Arabic and other fonts I wont use. I read something about gimprc, but I am a novice. I figure if I could tell GIMP to use a folder with the fonts I like, that would be a solution.

kaatje: the good news is that you can tell gimp to use it's own fonts folder, or another fonts folder by going into edit ->preferences ->folders ->fonts and specifying the folder path. the bad news is gimp will still read the system fonts from your OS and it's exactly those you want to get rid of. there is supposed to be a manager thingy you can download for gimp that takes care of this problem, but i didn't get it to work and now i don't remember the details. make a search here on gimp chat for "font manager" and you may find it!
