no selection

GIMP Version: 2.8.10
Operating System: Linux
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Hello.

I have the same GIMP 2.8.10 Installed on two different machines. They have slightly different Linux 17 Mint. Selection tool is working perfectly on one computer and not working on the other in any mode - the cursor is not drawing any selection. I tried to reinstall the GIMP without no result. Any suggestions?

Have you tried view/show selection? I know you shouldn't have to but it might help.

No - nothing happens with or without that "tick". The "dashed" line is not shown and it is also not "invisible", because the other tools involving the selection are not working either.

I wonder - could it depend on graphic adapter? I'll try to check...

Possibly. I have trouble with my selections becoming invisible when I use my graphics tablet with Gimp 2.6.11, yet the view menu shows that the selection is visible.

Any difference in window or desktop managers between the two systems?

Well, I've changed DVI for SVGA and it works! So, selection doesn't work on DVI. Quite strange...
