hope this is the correct place to ask

I'm using Partha's "GIMP 2.9.3 64-bit Experimental portable" version
there are 2 questions I have

1
how can I get the Tab + image at top of the canvas, to the bottom
its very distracting at the top
Better question, how can I turn the small image's off

I know that Partha's versions are all Developers,
I like the Partha's versions for years now, I will not forget it
how can I hide or lose the text "Unstable Development version, commit ......." from the canvas

I don't use that version. But someone will come along with answers for you.

You can change the tabs using the ' / ' key to bring up the search box. Search for tabs then click on the required position.
edit: It is also in the Windows menu

Tabs icon - I do not know if there is a way of turning that off
Development version info, coded in no easy way to remove it.

You cannot turn it off.
That message has been put there for a good reason!

It doesn't stay long anyways. As soon as you open or create a new image it vanishes. EVEN if you replace the bg with a image you will see the version text.





Maybe if it was a BLACK image it would show white text? Dunno. But with a BLACK image you run the risk of not seeing the fg/bg color black.

bummer, now Gimp looks like an artwork where cheap paint is used to quickly finish the background
perhaps for a dev release in the future, to use a different or second widget hard coded in the background
a goat and number perhaps? it will look a lot better

and yes I know, I can lose the text by choose for a stable official version
but they are still living somewhere in the stone-age ;-)

I know :-(
I'm found of the Partha version, because the theme don't contain the text left under under the toolbox
I'm years away from photoshop but I'm still used to the toolbox left and the rest on the right side
and of course, I'm very, very grateful Partha got the Ufraw plugin working in there versions

And the speed of dark?
I think its way way slower than the speed of light
it don't got the urge to run away every time
