How to create star in galaxy (dark background) with my moon image using gimp ?

I tried hard to create star in galaxy with my moon. but i can not do that.

I was created star in galaxy like this tutorial http://www.gimpusers.com/tutorials/starfield-tutorial too.

but result not good. Because my moon is drawing, but star in galaxy in this tutorial (http://www.gimpusers.com/tutorials/starfield-tutorial too.) look like photo.


How to create star in galaxy (dark background) in drawing look like for work with my moon drawing.

Could you please give me some idea , technique or tutorial to do that?

I'm thinking the request is for more of an illustrated look like this:

That could be done with a couple of custom gih brushes and some brush dynamics to randomize size, rotation and scattering.
