In Gimp 2.8xx When either the perspective, rotate, scale or shear tools
are invoked an annoying grid (to me) automatically pops up.

I am aware that the grid(s) can be turned off temporarily utilizing the choices
listed under the guide tab from "Number of lines" to "No guides".

This choice is only temporary as the guides reverts back to the default of
"Number of lines" when the program is concluded & restarted.

Is there any "behind the scenes" program coding change that I could implement to
permanently turn off these annoying grids from automatically appearing ?

Move the selector to "No guides" in the various tools, make sure everything is as you want everywhere (active tool, FG/BG color, pattern, gradient, font...) then go to Edit>Preferences -> Tool options>Save tools options now! and click it
