hi just a quick one

A few png/jpg things, I want to combine them into one picture
however, they have to be aligned perfectly at their sides

I can do it simply with mouse but it's too messy and not wise in my opinion.
Please let me know how to do that


For example. now I've got 4 images now they are all 400x300
I would like them all to fit into one image of 800x600 without anything they are missing or overlapping. How to do it??

Have each picture on a separate layer

Use the move tool and drag each layer approximately where you want it.

Zoom in then use the keyboard arrow keys to move each layer, 1 pixel at a time.

You could also open the 4 layers and in G'MIC go to montage, select all input layers & aligned.
If using Kevin's method it may be an idea to add horizontal and vertical guides which you can get rid of later.

Add vertical + horizontal guides (you don't even need to have them exactly centered). With the Move tool drag the layer so that a corner of each snaps at the intersection of the guides. Then use "Image>Fit canvas to layers".

Easiest way is with guides, but kenny is not too keen on guides.

Since the images are already the correct size to fit. Use the align tool.

Btw, if the canvas is exactly the right size, then "View>Snap to canvas edges" and snapping each layer in its corner would do the trick.

oK so now I think I should learn about using Guides

Can anyone give me specific help on my situation

Now I have 92 images. All of them are 375x281. No Exception.

I want to put them into a big image which is of the size

750x 12926

The sense is
(750=375x2 12926=281x46). 2x46=92

Two pictures on each row

Anyone can highlight me the steps of using guides with the provided values??

There are several scripts/plugins that help setting up guides.

This one is the most basic and easy to use.

Download guides-grid.scm
Put it in your Gimp profile C:\Users\your-nmame\.gimp-2.8\scripts

Start Gimp, make your base image 750 x 12926 pixels

Apply the script Image -> Guides -> Grid.

with these settings.

For this kind of work, use my arrange-layers script (either "space" with a spacing of 0, or "spread"). Create images for the vertical ribbons, then make a final image by stitching the two.
