I've got a lot of images that I have to add watermark logo to them at the center of the image.

I've found a great script suggested by Isabella on this forum.

The step I create my simple logo
First create the watermark text using the textbox
and then scale the text to 30px which is the size I like.
And then align it to the center of the image.
And then Script-Fu-->Layer Effects-->Outer Glow-->OK

The logo is just fine for me. However, when I try to save the watermark logo as an individual file and open it as layer for other images that I want to watermark, it does not look like what I want. It is not transparent over the image, it is not what it's supposed to be.

That's why using Bulk Image Manipulation does not work for me!

I've also tried the Color-To-Alpha to make the background of the logo transparent but the logo and the text looks very diffused and bad in that case.


But I do not want to repeat the same steps to hundreds of the images which will kill me.

Any ideas to repeat steps quickly and automatically?

Save/export your logo as a file type that supports transparency (PNG... or XCF).

The usefulness of putting a logo on hundreds of images eludes me... nobody is going to look at your hundreds of images, especially if there is a fancy logo in the middle. People have better things to do.

But if you insist, don't use Gimp but ImageMagick in a shell script.

If I were in America, I would not bother watermark. I am in FXXKing China. Where the FXXking Chinese is so FXXking that I just do not want them happily copy the photo I made. No problem at the center of the image, I just don't let them feel too good.

ImageMagick?? Another program or a script for GIMP?

People copy the photos that are worth it... which means, pictures of yours that are better than what can be found elsewhere. I sincerely doubt that you have hundreds of such photos.

Being in China doesn't change anything, despite the Great Firewall, Chinese people have access to photos outside of China... Search for this image of mine on Google, and count the copies. Actually what they copied is a DIY tutorial I posted on Reddit. But do I care?(*)

(*) In practice the Reddit version got a thousand views. It got copied (with my permission) on Petapixel and DIYPhotography, from where it was borrowed by several blogs, with or without attribution...

You can doubt my ability in GIMP, that's why I am here asking questions, but you can't doubt the number of quality photos we have taken.

I have hundreds of quality photo taken by my friends and I, which are mostly my products in different beautiful angles, and our office. If I do not add watermark, the Chinese just copy it and use it in their shops.

This is my real experience. I am not going to argue with you. I am putting my comments here in hope of more people taking serious about their photos.

Do what Sallyanne described in the other post.

You must export your watermark as a png with a transparent background.

For Gimp the BIMP plugin does work, but you do not like it
