Animated GIF from GAP to Movie maker?

GIMP Version: 2.6.11
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: 7 64
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Hey all;

I've creatred an animated GIF using GIMP and GAP, but I want to put music to it and burn it to a DVD. I was thinking of doing this with Windows Live Movie Maker, but I can't figure out any way to import and animated GIF to Movie Maker.

Is there any way to save the GIF in GIMP (or GAP) to a format that can be edited by Movie Maker? Or does anyone know of any other apps that would do this? Any other ideas?

You can import it into Virtual Dub and save it as an AVI then import it into Movie Maker. I'll find the link for you.

very straightforward although command line

convert file.gif file.mpg

this is a mpeg1 format that windows should accept without having to install any extra codecs.

Thanks for the replies. It seems I'm too stupid to use imagemagick, but virtualdub did the trick.

As an aside, is there no way for GIMP or GAP to accomplish the same thing (save an animated gif in some format that it can be edited with s video editing app)?

Avi export would be an excellent idea.

Maybe You can try GAP <Master Videoencoder> to create avi or mp4 file

I use <Split Video into Frames> to get some video frame
<Frame Modify ...> to apply some effect
<Master Videoencoder> to create avi or mp4 file
(other format may cause the problem)

That was fantastic, maybe you could do a tutorial with something simple such as a ball bouncing with sound affects. Glad to see you back on the site as you are obviously very talented in the use of GAP features
