Hi!

I have a vídeo, for which I would like to show just a certain area (have done it with the mobile phone and covers more area that I wanted).
Is it possible to use GIMP to edit it in a way to show only the area I want, format all the layers and then extracting it in a vídeo format again, please?

You can do that with a video editor, much better suited to the task.

You might want to try avidemux - it's a free video editor that works very well for cropping and other small adjustments to videos. Here's the website:

Now I need to figure out how to blur certain areas of the video (in a block of layers and not one by one).

If you open the layers you want to blur in GIMP you can then select TOP layer THEN...
1) Select the area you want blurred with any selection tool
2) Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur
3) Select blur settings
4) Run by clicking OK and KEEP the selection active
5) Arrow Down then CTRL +F will rerun the filter on the next layer down.
Arrow Down then CTRL + F repeat...
6) Keep blurring until you are finished.
