GIMP Version: 2.8.16
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User


I have Gimp 2.8.16 installed. I had done some pretty extensive customizing, but then didnt get to use it much due to a long illness. Today I noticed at SourceForge, a program called Gimpshop and thought I'd look at it before getting back to Gimp. After realizing it was a dead end, I decided to uninstall it. It seemed to be installed in a different location, according to right clicking on the icon properties. So I thought I would be ok.

Nope, it wrecked all the setup work I had done in Gimp. I had a recent restore point, so I did that, but to no avail. Any Help?

Running:
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
Gimp 2.8.16

Unfortunately,
I believe there isn't much you can do,
at this point,
to regain you Gimp User Profile,
that I can think of.

Also,
once the Gimp User Profile has been removed/deleted,
and you then run/open Gimp.
Gimp will create a new User Profile,
replacing the missing Gimp User Profile.

This is odd behavior for GIMP installs because GIMP looks for a user/.gimp-2.8 folder when it installs. If one exists it will use the existing /.gimp-2.8 folder and sub folders.
I have used GIMPSHOP before and it only makes GIMP look SORT OF like Photoshop. You can do this with GIMP-2.8 by yourself. Now that GIMP comes stock with "Single Window Mode" .
