Hi,
I am unable to undo anymore and have ruined my drawing! Help!
I painted an image and was really happy with it and then created a new layer for the background which I drew and smudged. I then rearranged the layers so the background was behind but it turns out I accidentally drew on the foreground layer. I tried to undo but the history didnt go that far back.
I have also tried removing one colour but that hasnt worked either.

That is really unfortunate that you messed up a picture you have been working on. Only thing I can think of you to do for future (in case something like this happens again). Is to maybe up your resource consumption for undo memory and undo levels. You will find this in your Gimp environment. Go to Edit > preferences > environment. - Should be the first one. If there is anything else - an easier way some one else will let you know.

Yeah i've done that thank you- I'll just have to do it again and it'll hopefully be better!

Save often with different names. eg
MyProject_01.xcf ; MyProject_02.xcf ; etc
This gives you a sort of undo/rollback.
You can even copy one layer from and older save and paste it into the current image.
