Hello,

I have an image which is a transparent png, lets say with just edges of a circle. I place this PNG image layer on a opaque BG image layer. The image layers are of different sizes.

Now I want to blend the edges of the circle with the BG, so that together they look like one img.

Need guidance regarding the same.

You would want to select your circle (alpha to selection), and go to select>shrink by 1 pixel and then select feather. Select>Invert and then delete.This will feather the circle into the bg area. Then merge the bg and circle layers.

So
1) I selected the circle layer
2) Choose Alpha to Selection
3)Went to Select-->Shrink menu and shrinked by 1 pixel.
4)Then Select--> Feather (5000)
5)Then Select-->Invert
6)Then delete button from keyboard
Is merge necessary? Cause once merged I cannot unmerge the layers, rgt?

Is my understanding correct for all the steps? Although I don't see a significant difference.

There is a difference, bumped the feather value to 11,000 and checked in the Undo editor window. My bad.

Yes i should have mentioned that. You may have to bump up the feather amount. Also you can keep pressing delete to feather more. =)

UNDO is your friend when it comes to un merging layers.
