PC settings

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

This is more of a "system" question than specifically GIMP. I just got a new computer built by a friend. I'm running my 4k monitor at 4k resolution. I notice that the cursor/brushes trail a bit sluggishly as opposed to 2k or less. My system has a pretty descent processor, 1060 Nvidia card and 64gb of ram. Is this just the nature of the demand or are there settings that I could look to mess with that might help?

Any insight would be most appreciated:)

Whatever the eventual fix, you should update Gimp to the latest version. see: www.gimp.org

There was a bug with 2.8.14 with large window sizes

The fix then was turn the rulers off. Bug fixed in later versions.

It may have something to do with running Gimp full screen. I've just been working on large images and I noticed it took longer to render brush strokes. Try Gimp in a smaller window and see if it renders faster?

Those seem like reasonable ideas! BTW....I'm running 2.8.16 (instead of 2.8.20)...only because on my old computer GIMP had a problem with my graphics tablet with version 20...but version 16 worked.

Latest version is 2.8.22. =)
