GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User


Yeaterday I saved the changes to some artwork I am working on for a client. When I opened gimp back up later two of the layers had totally disappeared. I went back and re did the layers (of course it is the layers that take the longest) but now it just did it again. I just want to cry, i have a deadline tomorrow to have this finished and don't think I am going to make it :(

This is something I've never encountered before.
Have you tried renaming the xcf file and saving it to a different location,
To see if this has any effect?

Might try saving to a flash drive in case there is damage on her hard drive.

:gaah I did save it to my flashdrive and I still have layers that have totally disappeared UGHH!!!!

What about keeping each layer in split? I mean to keep them in png or jpg just in case before closing the job.

If you can read the file without getting and error message it's not a corrupt file. Can you post the XCF somewhere? Anything special about it? Size, name of layers, etc...

The file is a larger one, when printed it will be an 11 x 17 poster

Size in pixels? File size on disk? What is the file system?
