How to backup all 2.9.7 settings?

GIMP Version: 2.9.7
Operating System: Linux
GIMP Experience: New User

Is there a way to backup all my brush settings/ tool presets/brushes, plugings, workspace settings and everything to another linux ? i want to move my customization to another linux , i want mate the most

my gimp 2.9.7 is installed in antergos kde and i made many customizations to it and i dont wanna do it all over again .

I'm making plans to go to mate desktop coz i really like it and see if i like mate more than kde

I'm not a Linux user,
but I think this is how it's done.

Copy the Gimp User Folder,
which I believe would be folder .gimp-2.9 in your Home Directory.
Save it to a flash drive.
Install Gimp on the other Linux distribution.
Open Gimp then close Gimp.
By opening Gimp and closing it,
this will create the .gimp-2.9 folder in your Home Directory.
Then replace the folder .gimp-2.9 in your Home Directory,
with the .gimp-2.9 folder from the flash drive.

PS: If I'm wrong,
someone please correct me.

Wallace is correct. The period before gimp ".gimp-2.9" makes it hidden. Hit Ctrl+H to make it un-hide the folder.

You are nearly correct

OP is using linux. The Gimp 2.9.x user profile is indeed hidden but is

home folder /.config/GIMP/2.9/

For wndows it is C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.9\

great, it even worked when i put that from linux into windows, its hilarious , so its very versatile and cross compatible with different os's , cheers :clap
