2-Page PDF

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Mac OS
OS Version: 10.11.6
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

How do I deal with editing a 2 page PDF document in Gimp?
It seems I can only work with one page at a time.
Is there a way to separate the pages first, and edit each one separately ?
Or can I do it all in Gimp?

Do you see this dialog,
when you attempt to open a PDF using GIMP?

With this dialog,
you should be able to select all,
or type in the range for pages you wish to open/import.

I hadn't seen it before because I have always only opened a single page pdf. Thanks for asking the question Gangle and thanks Wallace

I don't do much work using PDF's,
but I've opened other multi-page PDF's before.
Had to search online for a multi-page PDF to use,
because I did't have any.

I don't think it's different on Mac OS,
however I'm not a Macaronian.

The next question is how to put it back together as a PDF. There are better tools for editing a PDF. Gimp does rasterize vectors resulting in large file sizes.

There is a reference to this in GimpChat but for new users

Export your layers to individual images. Plenty of scripts for this. Use your favourite. Open these files up in Gimp. Use Saul Goodes script

When installed find it in: Create -> Export Multi Page PDF looks like.

Do not know if this one works with OSX, certainly ok in Linux/Win

Well, thank you indeed, for the multiple, quick responses.
The simple fact turns out to be, that I overlooked the option of opening “All” the pages when I first got started. Thank you Wallace.

Naturally(?) I selected page 1 at first… did my edits (they actually were quite minor) and simply used the ‘overwrite’ process to save.

After re-opening the 2 page PDF normally, I realized that page 2 did not even exist anymore!
I actually had to re-download the document again and start over, and here I am on this forum asking for help.

I see now, that by opening ‘all’ in the first place, should solve my problem, as each page sits on it’s own layer and when it’s time to save (overwrite) I should be good to go.
If not, i’ll be back.

@rich2005, I appreciate the mention of that script, to put the pages back together but, in this case, I don’t even mind if the pages end up apart and are not even pdf’s, if need be.
