Almost there!!

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

I'm almost there! I'm just stuck on my final text layer, I clicked the text tool and chose a font and clicked on the colour I want, but the box its supposed to go in is tiny and the text is too. I increased the size & put it at 50 but it was still too small to see & clicked back to zero by itself.

What am I doing wrong?

You can use the onscreen text dialog,
or the Tool Options.
To make the text size larger.

There are 2 places where you can alter the text size, colour, etc.
1. In the Tool Options the changes are "global" ie all the text is altered.
2. The on screen options changes some characters. Select some characters and change them here.

AnMal mentioned to me that she has experienced a bug that sometimes causes text to default if you don't press enter after you have set the size. Try setting the size, then pressing enter, then typing.
