All the colors in this image

Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

Can anyone tell me how this seller gets so many different colors in her backgrounds? She takes a 'plain' paper and adds all the colors and they look so natural. I've tried gradients and brushes and they all look so unnatural and don't blend in like hers do. I would look it up to find a tutorial but I don't know what to look for?

Is this the right images since the background is wood, not paper? It is also possible that this is just a photo of a watch set on on a wooden floor and that very little editing is involved.

It looks like a photo to me.

Thanks for your comments, but it isn't a photo. This is an Etsy seller with 900+ sets, with 10-12 papers in each set, and they've almost all got that wonderful coloring. Hopefully, I'll stumble across a way to do it one of these days.
