I imported a 2 page PDF into Gimp 2.8 (Windows 7).

I chose the Selection Tool > Rectangular and drew a box around the content I wish to remove/delete/cut/white over on the first page of that pdf.

I then clicked on the white background on the Option Tools Menu and dragged that over to the selected box but it didn’t white out that box.

I’m not sure what steps I’m missing?

Alternately, is there a way to cut or delete that unwanted content on page one?

Option 1
Rectangle tool to select content and press delete.
You may need to remove the alpha channel.
Layer > Transparency > Remove Alpha Channel

Option 2
Use the Paint Brush to paint the content white.

Check the security settings for the PDF. Look in 'Properties' of the document. They are often set to prevent altering the doc.

Documents can be modified in gimp, regardless of security settings.

TimeLord is right. if a pdf is more than one page it usually opens as layers or images..You get the option of which. A layer is then a 'RGB picture' until it is exported back to a pdf again. You should be able to make changes to the image or layer that you want to, just like normal in gimp.

Thanks TimeLord and sallyanne, you are right Gimp can modify any pdf page. I just tried it. Sorry eagertolearn for misleading you.
