I'm a Gimpless novice but I did make some image projects. :yes
Each project may have 4 to 12 layers. I exported and saved each one. NOW, I would like to combine them in one project.
Ex;
project 1) "Hi, how are you"?
project 2) "Most people are good"
project 3) (an image of a wave and a porpoise)

How can I combine these 3 projects and all their layers to make project 4?

Thank you in advance!

If the file extension of these projects,
are of the native GIMP file type of .xcf.
You can open them up as layers,
within one image or canvas.

Open all 3 projects. In your first project, highlight the layer in the 'layers' box where you want your next layer to go. Then go to your second project and highlight the layer you want to copy. Press 'ctrl' and 'c' together on keyboard. Go back to first project and do Edit > Paste As > New Layer.

A couple of little 'wrinkles' that you might come across.

File -> Open as Layers" and that will usually be in alpha-numeric order. The first image loaded determines the canvas size. This might not fit in with the other images.

Image

If you get something like the screenshot use Image -> Fit Canvas to Layers to increase the canvas size.

--------------

Be aware of the color mode, especially with gif animations. The first image loaded determines the Color Mode (RGB or Grayscale or Indexed). If a Indexed image, all subsequent images are converted to Indexed and use that colormap.

Image

This an extreme example where the RGB image is converted to a gray colormap. The solution, if combining several (especially animations) images you might have to convert to RGB first. Use Image -> Mode -> RGB
