GIMP Version: V2102

GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level
Just started exploring Gimp v2102 utilizing Samj portable version.
Did some preliminary exploratory graphics to get the feel
of the new features.
Saved the work(s) as xcf file(s), noticed warning on lower portion of save screen that stipulated,
"The image uses features from GIMP 2.10 disabling compression won't make the XCF readable
by older Gimp versions."
Tried to open files utilizing v2816 & received error message
"XCF error: unsupported XCF file version encountered."
Question -Is there a workaround that will enable the opening
of V2102 XCF files in earlier Gimp versions?
Attempted to locate a solution both on the Web & by reading
the V210 help file. Also did a search of Gimp Chat.
So far no luck!
I am aware that Gimp v210 was designed to incorporate many new and wonderful
features to allow several advanced techniques to be introduced into the program.
