Shortcut Key Help

Could one of you lovely people tell me what shortcut key is being used in this video tutorial at timestamp 11.28 to 11.40 to add to the alpha to selection. TIA

This is a real guess.

Is it at between 11:34 and 11:36 where he is adding to the initial 'horizontal bar' selection.

No shortcut unless you add one yourself. It is Layer -> Transparency -> Add to Selection. Does that a couple of times to build up the selection. example: https://i.imgur.com/v99vJVq.jpg

Or is it the menu that suddenly appears about 11:39 https://i.imgur.com/aJioVak.jpg

The shortcut he uses is Ctrl i. It's to invert the selection.

He says a few times "stauerung i". Don't know whether I've spelled stauerung correctly.
German is not my native language but I can understand it.
