GIMP Version: 2.8.22
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Intermediate

I have been using gimp 2.9, 2.10 and earlier 2.8 and 2.6.
Now the thing is, in one of the machines w2000 is the OS and I cannot update, I want to use the 2.8 gimp but it does not work, it loads but one is unable to use it (makes the cpu think forever), somewhere in the web I read there is 2.8 working in w2000 but the page to download link is dead. The portable will be fine to avoid installing as I use other portables more than installed.
So my question is, can someone help me to get the 2.8 working in w2000?
(I am not a programmer and failed to compile it as I have been suggested)
Thanks in advance.

:hehe I hope that machine is offline. 2.6.6 is the last official version that works on Windows 2000 it seems.
Why don't you just keep 2.6 on it and 2.8 on other machine if you have multiple computers?

Wallace,
yes, windows 2000.

Nidhogg,
gimp 2.6.7, and that is what I have been doing, but since I found that tip, I thought someone could help me on to how to use it in windows 2000.

In fact, that is one of the reasons I have been searching themes, plugins, scripts, ... to be able to use them in 2.6
