I took the plunge today and downloaded Samj's 2.10.4 portable version.

I have (hopefully) configured correctly the extra folders containing my scripts and plugins under Preferences.

All my old script fu scripts are at least visible in the various menus. Have not yet tried any out to see what works or not.

BUT I cannot see any of the many Python plugins from Diego, Ofnuts or Tin. Particularly the Addon Collection Manager from Ofnuts does not appear in the Help menu and I cannot see a Python Fu entry anywhere under Filters.

I presume there is something I have not done - but I do not know what it is. Any help would be appreciated; thank you.

My suggestion if you still want to use Ofnuts' Addon Collection Manager (shortly: ACM):
- in Preferences/Plug-ins add only the 2 Ofnuts' files (.py and .ini)
- in Preferences add all the xxxx_storage folders used by the ACM
- after copying them from your existing gimp 2.8, clear the .active file
- do not copy any of your resources into the regular folders (e.g. gradients), because they have to be reset using ACM
- re-do the activations of the resources you like to have using ACM
That's for all resources except .python filters, not managed by ACM.
For those add the links to where you have them using Edit/Preferences

Diego - thanks for your quick response. I have followed your instructions and restarted GIMP, but unfortunately, there is no difference; no python plugins appear anywhere.

I did notice though that in the startup splash screen, the commentary did show many references to .py files, so it knows they are there.

Time to sleep now, I'll look at it again in the morning.

When you will "restart" your activities on Gimp, verify you did download the very last samj's package (it has a different python)

Diego - the date on the Samj page that I an currently accessing is mercredi 11 juillet 2018 and the download from aljcom now fails consistently.

I did try out a couple of script fu filters but they failed - though your version of chisel is OK.

Seems like it is going to be a long hard path to get 2.10 installed and all my favourite filters working properly.

Well I have tried that latest link, downloaded the latest Samj 2.10', installed it from scratch and still ended up with no Python filters or console at all.

Thanks again Diego but after two days of trying to get 2.10 functioning properly, now I will give up for a while and play with 2.8 instead.

Did you "link" the folder(s) containing the .py filters using Gimp/Edit/Preferences?
This is how it looks mine.
First 3 entries are those created by samj, the other two are links to two of my folders containg .py filters.

Diego - yes I did configure the links to the .py folders using edit preferences. I used the same approach for the script fu scripts and they all show up as expected. As these attempts were on my lap top with a smaller scree size, I also have the scroll bar problem for BRL identified by others here, but that is an issue I can fix.

I have the version 2.10.4 64 bit (Partha) and the layer effect.py is not showing up I have 2 entries in my plugins folder in preferences (I assume one is for plugins and one is for G'mic?) and cannot open the folder in my gimp to get to the specific py. I have tried browse and it is not coming up!
ps. I have the py. I checked my computer's gimp folders before coming here.
Nothing is coming up in the search field either.
What should I do?

Now it shows in the right click menu as well as the layers menu.. Thanks. I haven't tried them yet. Hopefully everything will be all good now.

It looks like there was a version from a few days ago where python was broken.

Check bottom of Filters menu, that there is a Python-Fu entry. If you do not have that entry you need the latest release.

The new installer is still GIMP-2.10.4-std-64bit.exe but has a size 148,740,173B

LayerFX28.py version working.



Same as any other standard Gimp, plugins go in;
C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

Any mac users yet tried this out??? If so do you have an y advice....seems some of the things I use frequently are missing and I may have missed something as I have been quite simply too busy to be following the new realm of things for some time now...I need to get myself back into gear with GIMP. At the moment I can't even get a drop shadow to work!

Hello Pauline. I am not a Mac user but some of the things are still there but have changed where they are. Something I didn't even notice before is the "Search and run a command / "in the help menu.
You may find some of the things you are looking for clicking on that.

Thanks Sallyanne I will try that for a few things that are bothering me with it...GMIC for one and drop shadow not working on both versions ...GIMP and McGIMP...GMIC available in McGimp but not GIMP just for starters...I guess we will iron them out eventually

In Filters, under Decor, I have 'round corners' (which used to be under select?), slide, stencil carve & stencil chrome.
I cannot see carve anywhere else so I assume it's the same as the one we had previously.
Any way my question is - do I need to activate these filters before I can use them? (they are all greyed out, even with a selection)
If so how do I?

by the way my version of gimp is 2.10.4 64 bit Parthas - I only downloaded this one a couple days ago.
My OS is Windows 10 home 64 bit.

In Filters -> Decor:
Add bevel, Round Corners, Slide are greyed out if the image/layer has an alpha channel.
Stencil carve & Stencil chrome need to be both greyscale and without alpha.
