Grooved slider button

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

I was wondering how I would create a grooved slider button similar to what you see on a mixing deck or an equalizer? Basically I'm wondering how to create an image that is the top view of the added file.

The attachment button.png is no longer available

I made this one,
mostly using gradients and the dodge/burn tool.
To get the desired shades of grays and whites.

The paths tool was used to make the grooves,
using a dark base color and then a lighter top color.

The dodge/burn tool was run across the groves and also the spaces between the grooves.

I think the shadow I added,
using paths.
Really helps to make it look a bit more convincing.

It's not perfect,
but it a pretty good likeness of a slider.

I guess it could also be colorized,
to the desired hue.
If one were so inclined,
or perhaps made into a brush.
