 Post subject: New to GIMP, brush filters aren't working?

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User


I really liked the look of the light filter in MyPaintbrushes. Halfway through sketching, it stopped working, and whenever I set the filter again, it does nothing. I have reset my preferences, and still nothing. (I have the same problem with all filters, not just light)
