Ok I updated to the latest update

Since doing so, I am having problems erasing or completely removing colors on transparent layers.
By looking, it looks clean but if I duplicate the layer I get smudges or kind of a ghost layer

What I usally do is, alpha to selection, and if I missed anything it picks it up and I just erase it
but almost always, Gimp erases with the color picker really well, and never had this problem before

I adjust the color picker to a higher setting and it still doesnt seem to matter
The eraser tool doesnt seem to work as well as it used to

The only thing thats changed, is I upgraded to the new gimp update
Maybe I somehow changed a setting without knowing it? IDK
Is there something I can do to fix it or is it the update?

That's interesting.
I've been cataloging issues pertaining to GIMP 2.10.
And haven't found this issue yet.
Sorry that I don't have any solution,
but I'm sure someone might chime in with a suggestions.

Hi Norseman143.
You are on 2.8X and not the latest version of Gimp but that's OK.
I've been aware of these alpha issues for a while. They are probably just artefacts from another process.
Have a look at a thread I started here:
http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=16294

You can play your layers in the Gimp animation player and see how they remove the backgrounds?
A plugin written by rich2005 will fix it.
It has a handy slider to remove as much alpha as you want. Try about 24%
