i am looking for help with some photos i have using gimp, i would like to make the clothing appear more transparent and i was told it can be done in gimp....if anyone has any experience doing this feel free to send me a private message or let me know here

What you can do is:
Select the area that is the clothing and paste it on a new layer to work with.
Then use the eraser tool, change opacity to like 20% or so up to you and manually erase the clothing a little at a time.
This will make the pasted clothing partially transparent depending on how many times you erase over it.
You can put a layer of solid color underneath when you're working so you'll see and get a feel for how transparent the clothing is.

If you have not, try You Tube, and search for: gimp. Transparent clothes, or gimp remove clothing. I am sure that there are videos for this sort of thing, depending on what you want to do.
