Hi there,

I am trying to save a pattern to gimp, but I cannot see gimp pattern folder when I try to save. Following a thread I saw here, I went into windows explorer users/appdata/roaming and found all the files there. I've unhidden all the files and drives, but nothing has happened. I closed all of the applications and even restarted my PC, but it still doesn't work. I've done this twice. I'm using Windows 10. Please help! Many thanks

I suggest that you leave alone your Gimp program folder.
If you're looking for your Gimp profile patterns folder, then is in: C:\Users\Pocholo\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\patterns

Any third party brush, pattern, gradient, etc... you want to use this directory.

But I never hear anything like that happening to anyone

There's a workaround. Create a favourites bookmark for the C:\Users\"Yourusername"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\
When you want to save anything, the bookmark should show in "places".

Yeah it's possible to use the share inside Gimp installation folder, but using the user folder is more flexible way to manage additional resources.
And probably safer. At least that's how I've understood it.

I believe what Nidhogg said is the best way to do it. I never put anything in the Gimp Systems folder unless it absolutely must be there. Much easier to repair any mistakes if in the user folder.
