A Brush Settings Question

GIMP Version: 2.10.8
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

I've just been reading about dynamic settings for brushes....in gimp docs/2.8/3.2 Dynamics, it says:

"You may for instance let the width of the pencil vary according to the speed of the stylus or the mouse"

Can this also be done in 2.10?....

I'm using a mouse for input but don't seem to be having any luck getting any varing width, its just the same width from top to bottom; even when I have it set to Dynamics, Pressure or Opacity size....or am I using the wrong dynamic?

Any ideas for settings I should use?

And of course, 1 more question....

If I was wanting to draw a line that was narrow at the top & wider at the bottom, would velocity be the most suitable choice?

No, that would be the "fade" option (and set the "Fade length" in the brush options).

Great....I've made a note of that & added it to my gimp "odd bits of info" folder that I have...

That will help with a possible future project that I have in mind...
