So I've recently encounter a problem with gimp. While working on a picture, my tools suddenly stopped working after I had selected the sharpen feature on my blur/sharpen tool. Now, none of them work, and all of them brushes are bordered by the open bordered selection. It won't paint, blur, smudge, or anything and I have attempted to do several different types of fixes. I've restored every brush tot heir default settings, I have made sure my layers squared away, I have made sure nothing is selected, that my image isn't indexed and everything under the sun. If anybody knows how to rectify this issue so I don't have to reinstall it that would be great.

I don't think this one is in that list - sorry if it is Ofnuts, I didn't see it.

Something I found only recently too is:
When painting with a mask. the layer has to be visible. (The mask has to be selected but the layer has to have the 'eye' on.)

[A couple of times I wondered why no colour was showing through and I forgot I had turned the layer eye off]

Change the brush dynamics from 'Negative Size Pressure' to some other setting. say Dynamics none.
