GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 10
GIMP Experience: New User


I am currently using Gimp 2.8.22 A couple months ago I downloaded one of the Gimp 10 versions (the latest one at the time) and didn't like it. It just processed way too slow. So I deleted my Gimp 10 and reinstalled version 2.8.22. Now that I have more time on my hands, I would like to try the latest version again. But, I want to keep my old version separate so I can still process my photos while learning Gimp 10. Is there a way to do that? I appreciate the advice.

You can download a portable version.
This way you can use 2.10,
without losing your current installation.

I used the method from here:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16526 (post #4)

Summary:

1. In search box, type REGEDIT

2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\GIMP-2in1

3. Delete Gimp

4. Rename Gimp 2.8 user profile (eg from .gimp-2.8 to .Xgimp-2.8)

5. Install Gimp2.10 !IMPORTANT! Use the Customize option

6. Intall to C:\GIMP 210 (and not to to C:\GIMP 2)

7. Yes, I want a desktop icon

8. Rename Gimp 2.8 user profile back to .gimp-2.8
