Hello everyone,

I have been struggling with this problem for days now. When I apply the brush in that specific place in the canvas and I fold it, the cloud wont transition smoothly and it will appear ''cut''.

Imagine having an unfolded part of the cube and you want to have your texture (in this case a cloud) smoothly transition from one side to the other side across the corner. When you fold the the parts of the cube and you step inside it, the texture will be connecting. Its like painting inside a cube.

How can I make the portion of that brush not to apply on that blank spot but rather ''skip'' it.

I have uploaded an example picture bellow so you get better idea of what I am trying to say. Check bellow.

Apologies if this is poorly explained. I tried my best. English is not my native language.

Thanks.

I'm not sure what the word "fold" is referring to?

To me it sounds like OP wants to cut a square out of the brush, but also have the segments at 3 and 6 o'Clock being seamless, so when its folded into a cube, the cloud will look likes nothing missing. (along the yellow line in my diagram)

If I get it right, what you want to do is get the bottom of B seamlessly align to side of C (arrows):

Start by painting over the seam of B and D

Cut C-D to another layer

Rotate the layer:

At that point, by construction, the side of C (which is really D) will align with the bottom of B. You can do whatever you want with the rest of the image (paint a totally new thing over) or just blend A-B and C-D by adding a layer mask with a gradient in it over A:

Is it possible to clone so the source is cloned upside down (or mirrored) ?

Perhaps with symmetry painting ?

Yes that is right Konstantin. Like you explained in your first post.

Ofnuts thank you for your in depth tutorial. Its not exactly what I wanted but in a worse case scenario I will use your method.

I just want the brush to connect like Konstantin explained. Something with cloning/mirroring/symmetry would be ideal. I believe its more precise.

I tried before symmetry painting and selected ''tiling'' (setting both XY intervals to max) which helped me half and the other half of the brush appear on both ends of the canvas so when you put the canvas side to side the brush will connect.

Just for fun, a somewhat mangled cloud.

A new canvas with proportions 3:1 (and an alpha channel) Using symmetry painting paint in some clouds: https://i.imgur.com/qZ7N3eq.jpg

Increase the width of the canvas (133.33%) to add a transparent block at one end: https://i.imgur.com/Howh9Ly.jpg

Apply Distorts -> Polar Coordinates: https://i.imgur.com/Mk3F9Bu.jpg

A zealous crop to remove excess transparency. Back to a square using Gmic filter Square-to-Circle (mode Circle-to-Square) : https://i.imgur.com/vaC4efn.jpg

Not very cloud-like but the edges do match ;)
