That shouldn't be hard to test.
Step 1.
Spherical Emap: None.
Spherical Topo (Active Gradient)
Custom Gradient selected.

Step 2.
Black text layer and the resulted bevel text layer deleted. Sphere cropped and saved as png to use as emap.

Step 3.
Spherical Emap (the one I posted above selected)
Environment Map Type: Spherical Topografical.
Does it look like a copy of the first? Yes.
So, you can use the saved sphere to repeat the effect later, kinda useful I guess.
Used Arial Black/Heavy, all Bevel reflect logo settings were default.

*2.) Gradient is ignored when you don't have Spherical Topo (active gradient) or Spherical Cloud (active gradient) in the Emap Type box.
You can use emap, active gradient or active color.
