GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

Hello gimpchat.com! I just downloaded GIMP and am using it as a basic image editor. I have a bunch of JPEG images that need to be "Flipped" to correct their orientation. I open the image, and choose "Flip" and then "Flip Horizontally" from the "View" tab. I can see the correct layout of the image now. Here's the problem: I want to save the corrected image as a JPEG. When I do so, I click "File", "Export As", and choose "JPEG" as my file extension, as well as where I want to save the file on the computer. I then click "Export" and the "Export" again. When I go to the location to view the JPEG, the changes are not saved - the photo is still in its original orientation. I'm sure I am missing something obvious here - but I cannot see it. Help? Thanks!

The "View" tab is the wrong tab to use. It only changes the way the image is displayed on screen, but does not change the image itself.

There is a Flip Tool in the Toolbox. Mouse over the tools to get the name. Then, in the Tool Options below the Toolbox, make sure that Horizontal is active. Now click on the image.

Alternatively, use the Tools tab. Tools > Transform Tools > Flip. Also check that Horizontal is active in the Tool Options.

Are you really using 2.8.14? That is very old!

Does GIMP do a lossless rotation? I know several other programs do, but I'm not sure about GIMP.
