GIMP Version: 2.10.22
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon (Kernel 5.4.0-58)
GIMP Experience: Experienced User

I have changed OS and imported all my Gimp files to the new one. So far, everything seems to be going well with Gimp, except I cannot open SVG files in it. I can export files to an SVG format from within Gimp, but I cannot open those files afterward. I get the error as shown in the screenshot. Any ideas?

Try creating a new image, right-clicking in the paths tab and choosing Import Path.

That works in that it imports all the paths of the object, which is useful. However, I would like to be able to import the image as an image.

I don't recall ever being able to export or import whole images as SVG in Gimp. It's not an option in the export dialogue.

Be sure you are not using Nufraw to load your RAW images in Gimp, this is known to disable .svg import into Gimp.

Racer, thanks! That did it. It took me a moment to figure out how to select/deselect the image importer -- Been using gimp since 2.2 and never once had to do that, hahahaha -- but that did it. Thanks again.
