I've seen people doing this thing that lets the letters be show below them again that makes it look like a mirror..

like this

This is the logo from half life 2 but i've seen people do it themselves with another text..

1 dup the layer
2 layer/transform/flip vertically
3 Image/resize canvas
BREAK THE CHAIN to be able to double only the height
4 create a new layer, fill with the bg color (here fill with black)
move to the bottom as new BG layer

now make active the flipped layer (that of 2)
grab the move tool and move the layer down
and decrease its transparency

PS may be ,somewhere in www.registry.gimp.org a script to automatize this steps

Couple of questions:

• What exactly is Scrip-Fu? (Is this installing new effects?)
• In the video why does she hold CTRL when she strokes up?

That's it.. I think?

Here's one I did a while back where I color animated the text and the reflection.

It might give you some ideas..
