The Pencil tool in Gimp? Or the ability to use the tablet pen? To bring back the Pencil tool in the Toolbox display: in an image window menu bar: Windows/Dockable dialogs/Tools (at the bottom of the dropdown). Then find the Pencil in the list and click at the beginning of the line if you don't see an eye icon there.

OfNuts - thanks so very very much - it was really bothering me that I lost it. I was playing with the Dockable menu and not really knowing what I was doing so that must have been where I clicked in a couple too many places!!

Thanks
