I make bows & I really want to make my own bottle cap images. Does anybody know how to do this or have a tutorial for it? I don't know what size to make the page, what size to make the images. I really need some help so PLEASE help!

Can you post your bottle cap image so we can see what you are working with?

To upload a picture here in Gimp Chat, click the icon above the posting box, browse for your image, click Add the File, wait for it to load, then click the Submit button.

Maybe you should explain more throughly what it was you wanted to do. Sounds like to me from your reply you just want something you can put an image on already sized for you and you just print, cut out, and paste to a bottle cap???

If that is so only you can do that by measuring your bottle cap you want to place an image on. As an example, by tracing on a piece of paper the outer edge of your bottle cap, then scanning into your pc, opening bottle cap image into gimp, and play with gimp until you get the result you want and keep it as a template.

Then you can add images as a new layer to your bottle cap template. Just make sure you have your dockable layer tab open so you can see all your layers and resize with available gimp tools; such as using the tool to resize the image you want to place on it.

If this does not help please explain yourself better and if possible give the group an idea of what you are striving for. The regular GIMPers on here are a great resource and very helpful. If they can see what you are trying to do they come up with loads of ideas to do things.

Yes I want to make my own images, I just needed to know the size dimension & what to print it out on.. Also I figured since this is a gimp chat site everybody would know I have gimp & gap is the animation package I have with it.

The answer to your question totally depends on your intentions. Are you using your own paper? Are you using sticker templates (Avery type). Are there specifications for their use (do they have to be a certain size for a certain use or customer)?

On one hand, you may only need a masking template (which works great with one singular bottle cap image). On the other hand, you may only need to set your input images to a scaled size and paste them as selections. I have no idea. If you would provide some images of what you are working with (even if they are just examples) there are many people here who could help you figure it out fairly quickly.

I will be printing it out at CVS, the images.. I want to be like 9 on one page ( if they'll fit ) & no they won't be stickers, I'll be gluing the images on an actual bottle cap then gluing the bottle cap to my bow. I'm not sure what kind of image I'm going to use, any image I can fit into the size I'm allowed to use for the bottle cap. I have tons of scrap kits so I'll use elements & just resize them to fit. No customers, I'm personally making them for my daugher, & I have NO clue what size they need to be. I will be scaling the images to whatever size to fit the bottle cap.. & I want to make the image to where I can print them out by 4x6... So I don't know how many I can fit on the page & I don't know what the size of each circle would be.

Mary, can you post a picture of one you have already completed?

Just from what you described it sounds like all you need is a mask/selection template for your bottle caps. More than one template if there are more than one size of bottle caps.

I don't knw what a mask is but. I will make one.

& I meant make a bottle cap image so you guys can see what I mean. Srry

This isn't even big enough to print as a 4x6 & I made it 4x6 in. USING GIMP.
The bottle cap images I made 1 in x 1 in & It' not?!

When you print from GIMP, click File > Print ...

Click the Image Settings tab and make sure the size is 4 x 6 inches. They print out perfectly for me. The caps are 1".

Yeah but they're too small for the pictures, I made different ones I'm about to post.. They had to be 1.403 inches to match up to the bottle cap & I'm printing the pictures out at cvs, just ordering 4x6 prints.
Should I keep the the page 4x6 inches. I resized it to match up with a 4x6 I have here at home.. & Should I keep the bottle cap images at 1" , will they print out bigger? Or will they print out the size show above?

You should make your images 1.403"

Trying to make your paper size different so they will print correctly would be way too hard.

I made a grid of 1.403" and sized the ellipse tool to one of the grid squares.

The ellipse tool set at 101px works out to your image size if that is what you are using to make your circles.

Here is an experimental image I made using 1.403 for the ellipse size and image size of 4" x 6", and using a layer mask. You can try printing this image and see if the measurements come out how you want them.

I did use the eclipse tool & then I went to file ( i think ) & clicked cut, erased what was left over & pasted the image I cut out as a new layer.. Would that also work?

Sounds like it would work to me. You'll have to give it a try.

You can print them on regular paper before using your 4x6 paper so you don't waste your good photo paper.
