The good news is that my tablet came, it's all setup and it works on everything... (the bad news now) except gimp. I know the pad is working right because I have 7 programs that support it and they all work. In Gimp it moves around like a cursor, I can click and select with it, it just doesn't 'color' anything. Paint, draw, airbrush, ink, anything that draws anything won't work.

I feel like it's just a setting somewhere, I think I could sort this out over time but I'm really anxious to do something with it in Gimp.

Ok, this is a thinly veiled plea for agvice and or help.

Sorry my wife was telling me we had to leave. Anyway, Strange things are happening. Gimp will not work with the pad unless I uninstall the driver for the pad, then it's reversed. Inkscape ;ike Gimp won't work, the pen acts like a cursor but wont paint. other things are weird. Progs that I've had installed already and have worked now won't work right. Mypaint and Artweaver will paint in black, but in both programs the color wheel, triangle etc doesn't show. In Mypaint none of the brushes can be accessed. In Corel painter, which came with it works perfectly.

I'm inclined to think it might be a direct X problem but I've already updated to the latest version. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks for the nfo on this pad and glad to hear you have it working in GIMP.

I'll be interested to hear how you like using it, especially for freestyle drawing and if you find the pad to be sensitive enough, with enough resolution for fine drawing.

Can you give us the exact make and model number for future reference?

Do you have to play with the brush dynamics settings?
How did you get it to work?

I'm very quickly getting addicted to it, I foresee buying anther one. It works really great with my CAD software, the only thing I can't get it to work with is Inkscape and only my computer only, I can't get Mypaint to work, but it works on my other computers

Wacom bambo pen CTL- 460/K

Well, back when mice were a new thing sometimes the computer wouldn't see them unless you were moving the mouse around while starting the program. In this case I wondered if it might be something similar so I started Gimp using the pad and kept it moving until gimp loaded. Sounds silly but it worked on all three computers.

Brush dynamics are something I just started experimenting with last night. I know enough at this point to know that I'm going to have a lot of fun with them.

I have been using the Bamboo and have had some intermittent issues with it. I hear that the issues with tablets, varies on tablet model and operating system of the computer.

Enjoy your tablet! Tablets are awesome!

If you figure out how to make it work really well, please let me know. I am thinking of looking into a tablet for the added control while drawing.
