tool options disappeared

My tool options disappeared. If I click on a tool the options below aren't there. The box below is completely empty... I opened a new layer and that didn't work either. Does anyone out there know how I can get it back..... :oops:

Double-click on a tool; its Options Dialog should appear as a separate window. Drag that window by clicking over the tool's name at the top of the dialog (NOT the window's title bar) -- dropping the dialog in the region underneath the Toolbox.

This just happened to me. I don't quite understand what you are saying. Will you do some screen shots please? I can double click on the tool, but would rather have it as it was default. In the options it has a lock to dock clicked, but doesn't work. How do I get the options back to default and not cause the problem happen again?

Hi Slide, no worries,In your Gimp just go to Windows>Dockable Dialogues and click on tool options.
When it opens move to wherever you prefer then lock, eg my dock location is shown below.

Thanks Graechan I've done that, but still have to double click on the next tool. Maybe the 2.7.5 preview? Not that big of a deal, but I don't know how it came up missing. There and then gone.

silly question, but did you select Lock tab to dock?

No question is silly and please believe me I ask a lot of questions; as you can see, but yes I did (I think). I don't see the problem with 2.6.11

I guess I'll have to live with it and maybe that's how it's suppose to be, but it was locked before with whatever I did to lose it.

Slide the only way tool options works with one click open is if you have it either docked under the toolbox by itself (no other tabs).
Or like i do on the right with layers, paths, and channels docked under it.
The tool options tab is always on its own though.Otherwise you need to double click a tool with the mouse to have it open up that tools options.

Rod is this new in 2.7.5.,or if you had the tool options tab opened first it changes to whatever tool you click on once.
Open your Tool Options tab, go to Edit>Preferences>Window Management and deslect Save window position on exit
and click on Save window position now

Slide the method I showed is for non-default window setups i.e. for if you have added tabs (and you most likely will in the future) and is safer to use but I am glad you have things sorted out. :bigthup
