GIMP Version: 2.7.5
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: XP - SP3
GIMP Experience: Advanced Level

Themes should be in C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Michael\gimp-2.7\themes
But this folder is empty.
I've reinstalled GIMP 2.7.5 with the same result. No themes.
So where can i get the files for the theme which is used in the screenshot of the new build - which i like - at Partha's place?
Don't know it's name.

Michael

In your first image there is no link to the default theme folder.
There should be two links there
1) the one you have to your user folder
2) the link to C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.7\share\gimp\2.0\themes
After adding that path...
If you click on Edit>Preferences>Themes>Default, the theme will change to Parthas (providing you have Parthas version installed).

1) In my first image there is one link to C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Michael\.gimp-2.7\themes (my user folder)
But this folder is empty.
2) Now i've manually added the link to C:\Programme\Gimp-2.7.5\share\gimp\2.0\themes (That's where the partha GIMP 2.7.5 has been installed to.
)
This folder contains the folders Small and Default.

Same result when i try to chose a theme. No theme available.

Michael

Edit: After restarting GIMP themes Default and Small are available. But no Partha theme. Just the ugly default.

Strange
I thought Partha included the theme as default.

Ok here
unzip this to the gimp-2.7/share/gimp/2.0/themes directory
Be sure and take the other out first for a backup. :)

Any time you want to change the theme just drag the gtkrc file OUT of that default folder and place the new one in.
rename the one you took out to gtkrc-backup.

This is where you put your themes Michael. You can download themes from gnome-look.org

Let's assume that you have found a great theme from gnome-look.org. Make sure it's a gtk 2.x theme. Let's call it "Dasha".

1. Download Dasha and unzip it. Use 7z to do that since sometimes the file is compressed in some Unix formats like gz or bz2.
2. When you unzip you will find a directory called gtk-2.0 and it will have some files and possibly directories.
3. Copy this directory to the .gimp-2.7/themes directory and rename it to Dasha.
4. Restart Gimp and change the theme in your preferences to "Dasha".

There is also the small theme which is like the gimp default. I recommend not to use the MS-Windows theme as that will make it impossible to use the text tool in Gimp.

This should not be needed. Did the installer complain during the installation?

Rod,

Just so that there is no confusion, my default installation directory is gimp-2.7.5. :)
