Hallo!

I'm in search of a tutorial to create an award ribbon. Thats the kind you get when they attach it to a certificate. Usually has a metalic top with ribbons below in a upside down V and each ribbon has a V knoch cut out of the end.

I did a little preliminary searching on my dumb phone but didn't see much. And the little buttons start to irritate me! Normally I'd convert the page to a pdf, download to the phone and email to myself.

If anybody know of such thing do tell! Please!

Thanks much!

Do you have the layer effects plugin? That is necessary for the tut I am going to work on. Will let you know how it turns out.

Can you find a similar pic on the internet that gives us a better idea of what you are looking for? I could not get a picture in my mind from your description.

I just typed in "awards ribbon images" and came up with thousands. One of these maybe?

The middle one Drac. Sorry .. I was trying to describe the best I can. Like I said, I have a dumb phone. I don't have all the fancy things a smart phone has. I can barely do the internet on it.

The middle one is what I'm looking for. I was searching around for something of nice quality but I'll be dipped if I'm going to spend $80 on an .svg graphic. Bump that! O.o

If I knew how .. I'd just do it myself! :( I'm uber frustrated today on different levels. :(

Well here is what I have...I will make the tut later, finished the ribbon though. I will post the xcf. If you want different ribbon ends let me know.

Used a set of ribbons from media militia package, will provide the link to the pack in tut.

I have attached another one that i put together.
The XCF is included in the zip.

You will have to tweak it to your desire, and add shadows and things though. :)

Both are cool!

@ZWard117 I like yours because it'd be scalable, but the medal part needs a little more detail.

@Rod Your's really cool too! I downloaded it and colorize works great on it! But, how'd you do it?

That's what I wanted to learn is the how part! =) I do appreciate your efforts though! Smashing results!

Good Stuff! :bigthup :hi5 :bigthup :ninja

The ribbon (bottom 2) were pretty easy.Just 1 path and a gradient fill. Then i shrank the selection and filled it also.
That gave it sort of a border. Then i created 3 circles - 1 golden gradient for the face, one darker color for the border, and one for the face shadow.

The hardest part was the outside part of the top face ribbon.
If you look at the XCF it has 2 paths. The smallest is for the out side part of the ribbon (1 piece of it).
I used the golden gradient and colorized it to look a little darker.
I then copied each piece and rotated it with the center of rotation set to 88 and 88 x and y.I did this with half the outside ribbon.
Then i did a new from visible and rotated it to the other side. That gave me the 2 halves i needed.
