how do u make 3d text

I just googled "gimp 3d text" and got hundreds of hits.

There's a lot of tutorials on it search on youtube gimp 3D text and you'll get some. The way I do it is very simple.
Make my text layer.
Duplicate it.
Then go to filter>blue>motion blue and change the anle and distance to what I want the text to be extracted to.
Then just duplicate this blurred layer a lot usually 60-80 does it but just until the color is fairly solid or won't get any more solid looking.
Then just drag the text layer to the top and you're done.

sorry I haven't had time to gimp in a looooong while. but I believe in g'mic there is an extrude filter. someone would need to confirm though
