I use gimp in linux and is great for modifying photos. I am interested in quick image viewer that support .xcf format, is there one?

I find gimp is slow and clumsy as a batch image viewer, I use gthumb but does not load.

Gwenview display XCF files fine. So does Okular (both part of the KDE desktop, but can be used outside of it). But I'm sure there standard Gnome image viewer will do it, too.

A couple of suggestions.

ImageMagick comes with a viewer - use display on a command line. This one will be in your distro repo.

or and it was mentioned in an earlier post there is a viewer application from the same place as XnView - Nview.

might / might-not come bundled with XnView / be in your repo. Certainly both XnView and XnViewMP are in the PCLOS repo. If not, easy to install, get the tar file and unpack. Pop the binary into usr/bin. Again it is command line. It would also be worth looking at XnViewMP as a graphics file viewer/manager. I have been using it for about a year, still beta but very stable.

I call either from my file browser, on a right click context basis. Probably use nview more than IM display.
